Our Vision

We at UMODEL lab wish to incorporate cutting-edge technology to the Mining Industry to solve the problems of a modern day mine. The lab is a nesting ground of innovation and the application of modern digital technologies.

The main goals of the lab include:
• Provide support and resource development for mining operations
• Upgrade operations management with enhanced computing intelligence (machine learning and artificial intelligence)
• Develop socio-technical operational excellence platforms
• Increase digital know-how of mining engineers

About the Instructor

Sample Description

Dr. Pratt Rogers is an assistant professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of Utah. His research and professional experience are focused on the role of digital innovation and data management in mining companies. Dr. Rogers’ vision is to enhance digital management best practices for mining operations.

Aaron Young graduated from the University of Utah in May 2015. During his undergraduate career Aaron received many scholarships and awards, including the Department of Mining Engineering Distinguished Service Award.

Elaheh Talebi received her B.S. degree in Mining Engineering from the Isfahan University of Technology, Iran. She is currently a Ph.D. student in Mining Engineering at the University of Utah. She is skilled in so and so.

Brief Information

He recently joined the team from India where he completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Mining Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. He has a strong background in data science and software development.

Brief Information

Shantae Lee is currently part of the BS/MS program in the Mining Engineer department at the University of Utah. She focuses on the health and safety of the mines; she presently working on the fatigue management survey for haul truck drivers.
